Mayor Armstead Scholarship. Due May 1, 2024

​

Please include a one page typed-written essay indicating why you feel you should be considered for this scholarship. Application and essay must be emailed to mayorarmstead@gmail.com by May 1st.

Pagano-Devaney Perseverance Scholarship. Due May 10, 2024

 

This scholarship was created in the memory of Joseph and Angela Pagano, and John and Helen Devaney, with the intention of maintaining the belief that hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance create opportunities for generations to come.

The Donald & Itasker Thornton Memorial Scholarship. Due May 7, 2024

​

The Thornton Sisters Foundation is a nonprofit corporation organized for the purpose of annually providing one-year educational scholarship to deserving young females of color. The Scholarship shall be used to contribute to the student's first year college tuition and/or books. 

​

Any student who has or will receive a full scholarship during her senior year should not apply. 

Requirements:

1. Public NJ high school senior

2. female of color (African-American/ Black, Hispanic/ Latino-American, Carribean-American, Native American, Asian-American, etc)

3. GPA of C+ or better, official transcript is required

4. 3 letters of recommendation (from teacher or faculty member, include how they know applicant and for how long, signed and sealed with author's signature across the sealed portion of the envelope. 

5. recent copy of parents income tax statement or equivalent documentation of parents income. individual W-2 Froms will not be accepted.

6. personal statement- 500 word essay & photograph (passport photo size)

7. entering 4 year college or university

*When the student becomes one of the finalists, a personal interview with the board of trustees shall be required.

Notable Scholars Vocal Music Scholarship. Due May 5, 2024

​

This scholarship will be given to one student who plans to study

vocal music in college. The college may be one that grants a Bachelor’s degree or an Associate’s degree. These funds are meant to help defray college expenses and will be disseminated directly to the college/university indicated by the student.

 

 

Notables Singers Inc. is a company of female singers who have been performing America’s

Favorite Music including Broadway, jazz and pop tunes at both public and private events,

primarily in Morris, Union and Somerset counties since 2004. Notables Singers Inc. is a

registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization. Its mission is to educate and entertain

audiences musically about America’s Favorite Music and its songwriters.

Diane Cecala Memorial Scholarship (Hickory Tree Chorus). Due 5/10/24

​

Hickory Tree Chorus is a women’s vocal group based in Stirling, NJ.  A chapter of Sweet Adelines International, we are dedicated to teaching, singing, and performing four-part a cappella harmony.  Our chorus has awarded an annual scholarship for over 30 years to students from areas in which its members reside. Keeping with this tradition, we are pleased to offer the $1,000 Diane Cecala Memorial Scholarship to a musically talented high school senior girl interested in pursuing vocal music in college.

Scholarship Guidelines

​

A- ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

1-Demographic- To be considered for scholarship award the applicant must be:

- A legal resident of the United States.

- Haitian or Haitian descent

- A resident of the Union County in New Jersey

- Between age of 16 and 21

 

2- Academic Profile. The scholarship is intended to assist students seeking admission to

two or three years accredited undergraduate college, university, technical or vocational.

- Applicant must be a high school graduate applying to college/university or

technical/vocational school

- Has at least a current GPA of 3.0

- Has Participated in the ESL program
