I would like to officially welcome you BACK TO SCHOOL after an extremely unconventional and challenging year. I understand that many students have not been in a traditional classroom for some time, and some are completely new to our Linden High School Campus. All faculty and staff stand ready to assist every student in the transition back to full in-person learning.

Unfortunately, our community, and the world, is still deeply affected by the COVID-19 virus. As such, the State of NJ has again mandated that masks be worn on school campuses. This regulation will be strictly enforced in all areas, with the exception of the cafeteria while students are eating. Additionally, our school custodians will continue to be proactive in adhering to augmented sanitizing protocols in order to promote a healthy school environment. Many unknowns remain as we navigate these uncharted waters; nevertheless, we do know that we will continue to be flexible, resilient and unwavering in our commitment to instructional excellence. Now, more than ever, we need to continue to support each other as a school community and establish our new normal for in person instruction.

Be reminded, that it is mandatory for all students to wear school ID tags visibly while in attendance at Linden High School. Please note, lockers will not be in use at the start of the school year. Similarly, locker rooms will not be accessible and students will not be required to change for physical education. Security entry procedures will continue to be enforced in order to ensure the safety and security of the building; appointments are required for entry to Linden High School.

As always, we appreciate the cooperation and support of our Linden High School community. I firmly believe that we are partners in education. It is when school and community work together, that our children achieve their highest potential. Expectations are set high in order to ensure that our students achieve their academic goals and become active and compassionate citizens.

District decisions regarding changes of instructional platforms, quarantining, closures, etc. are based on information provided by the CDC, federal, and state agencies. Our school community will be kept abreast of all decisions in a timely manner. At the core of every decision made for the 2021-2022 school year are three guiding principles:

1. Safeguarding the health and safety of every student, faculty and staff member.

2. Maintaining our standard of academic excellence in the delivery of instruction.

3. Implementing best practices of experts to make informed decisions.

Please review the information on the LHS website to best prepare for a successful school year. Most importantly, I hope you and your family remain healthy and safe during this time. We will continue to stand together as one LHS family. If you require assistance or support, please call the high school office.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Horré
